Chinese New Year is upon us. While the West resets the calendar every January 1st, the people of Eastern Asia celebrate their New Year via the phases of the moon. The proper nation-neutral name for the holiday is  the Lunar New Year. The Lunar New Year is celebrated in conjunction with the Spring Celebration; a time for vacation and the visiting of loved ones in Eastern nations.

Anyone who has ever gazed down at their place-mat while dining  at a Chinese restaurant will know that the Chinese assign animals to each year, similar to the Western zodiac signs. 2015 is The Year of the Goat (Ram, Sheep) and is said to be a year of promise and prosperity.
