No Debate on Global Warming from Alaskans

The Native Americans of the village of Kivalina, Alaska are convinced that Global Warming is real. While those of the lower 48 states are experiencing one of the worst winters of recent history, the people of Alaska are experiencing less and less ice.

So convinced are the people of Kivalina of the detrimental effects of global warming that they have filed class-action lawsuits against various oil companies siting environmental damages.

The village was recently visited by Department of Interior’s Sally Jewell. Jewell is in town as the village receives millions in aid to help residents relocate. Kivalina is witnessing the effects of  global warming directly as it experiences rising sea-levels and the subsequent destruction of local fauna’s natural habitat.
