President Obama plays Cheerleader-and-Chief

President Obama gave a “rah-rah” speech on the unity of the United States and the importance of world cooperation on the destruction of ISIS.

Obama addressed the nation via YouTube and other media outlets to discuss the strength of the United States and its melting pot of cultures.

He re-iterated again that the U.S. is not at war with Islam and its 1 billion devotees, 2.6 million of which claim United States citizenship.

The President has promised to arm “moderate” rebels to fight ISIS which raises the point that the srebels were initially to be armed to fight against the President of Syria, Bashir Assad. One senator critical of the plan quipped that the army the U.S. trains would later be killed by Assad’s air-force.

An additional monkey-wrench thrown into Middle-East politics is a 1,500 year old holy war as to who should lead Islam. A war of this nature, with multiple adversaries and motives could create the quagmire predicted by those critical of U.S. involvement in the regional conflict.

This menage a trois of enemies convolutes the old adage of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” for in this case the enemy of my enemy is also my enemy in the U.S. world of tangled diplomacy.
