U.S. finds first case of H5N2 bird flu in commercial chicken flock in Wisconsin

The U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed Monday this week;  the first case of a lethal strain of bird flu in a commercial chicken flock, the same virus that has killed hundreds of thousands of turkeys this year already.

According to the USDA; in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, between Madison and Milwaukee, The H5N2 flu strain infected a commercial flock of 200,000 chickens. Since the beginning of 2015, the flu, which can kill nearly an entire flock in as little as 48 hours, has been found in commercial turkey operations and backyard poultry flocks from Oregon to Arkansas.
