As the world marks the 70th anniversary of Auschwitz, BBC gives us a cinematic visual tour of the concentration camp located in Poland. The drone video is a flyover of Auschwitz and its cousin camp, Birkenau (Auschwitz II) as the concentration camps look today — 70 years after it was liberated by the Soviet army.
The chilling drone footage shows the massive scale of the complex, guard towers, chimneys of crematoriums and the infamous words “Arbeit Macht Frei” (work makes you free) on the entrance gate. The railroad tracks are also shown, which were used to ferry over a million people to unspeakable horrors between 1940 and 1945.
