A second judge has defied a federal government’s ruling. In late February 2015, a Texas judge put a moratorium on a presidential decree that would have halted deportation of millions of illegal immigrants. The White House has urged U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen to end his injunction.

Recently and Alabama judge has joined in an apparent right-wing revolution by defying a Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage. Chief Justice Roy Moore has stated his religiously based beliefs that marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman. Moore later when on pontificate on gay marriage in a televised rant saying:

“Do they stop with one man and one man or one woman and one woman?” he asked. “Or do they go to multiple marriages? Or do they go to marriages between men and their daughters or women and their sons?”

Alabama is no stranger to civil-rights abuse, the home of several historical protests in favor of African-American rights including the Montgomery Alabama Bus protests. Most recently Alabama was featured in the 2014 film Selma, the story of Martin Luther King JR and his civil rights movement.

Several gay activists, including Star Trek’s George Takei took to Twitter to express their disgust with the Alabama ruling by posting pics of themselves giving Judge Roy Moore “the finger”… their ring fingers, replete with wedding bands.
