The African Islamic extremist group, infamous for kidnapping the daughters of an entire village, has sworn allegiance to the Islamic terror state of the Levant region of the Middle-East.
Boka Haram meaning “the corrupt book or way”, possibly referring to the way of Western society, has been gaining momentum and catching the attention of the West with their brazen attacks and outlandish videos.
The members of Boka Haram have adopted the high-quality, well produced media stylings of their Northern counter-parts; with their latest videos depicting a copycat beheading.
The Nigerian Islamic group has been attempting to impart their interpretation of Islam on the region since 2009, initially attempting to ally themselves with the notorious Al Qaeda organization.
In response to the group which has been known to wipe-out entire villages, the nations of Nigeria and Chad have launched U.S. trained troops to combat the group and restore governance over several Boka Haram occupied towns.
As of Monday March 9th, two towns were liberated by government forces leaving 200 Boko Haram fighters dead in the aftermath.
The re-taking of the villages represents a new aggressive stage in the combat against Boko Haram, mimicking the counter-attacks the Kurds and Western forces are enacting upon the ISIS group in Iraq and Syria.
