Protests erupted in Madison, Wisconsin after a police officer shoots and kills unarmed black teen Tony Robinson.

Police were responding to a disturbance at a Madison apartment before the killing. One officer forced his way into an apartment where an apparent struggle ensued between the officer and the unarmed teen.

Robinson, who was shot in the chest 5 times  was seeking a degree in business.

Several protesters arrived at the scene of the killing chanting  “Black Lives Matter” a refrain that has been heard since the death of Michael Brown at the hands of Officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri.

“My son has never been a violent person. And to die in such a violent, violent way, it baffles me.” Robinson’s mother told reporters.

It is estimated that 5 unarmed African-Americans have been killed every year by police since 1999.
