ISIS in Libya executed 21 Coptic Christian “crusaders” in Libya. The Egyptian Christians were beheaded in a video released by the terrorist group over the weekend. Egypt reacted with war planes early Monday morning bombing the city of Darma.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi visited Coptic churches after the release of the video, demonstrating Egypt’s desire for unity amongst all religions in Egypt. Coptics have been on the receiving-end of violence since the Arab Spring and Egyptian Revolution.
Libya has been in the midst of a civil war since the fall of Moammar Qaddafi in 2011. The attacks on Darma were enacted with the approval of the current Libyan government.
President El Sissi stated that “These cowardly actions will not undermine our determination.”
