Forget about ISIS, the Ukraine and Iranian nukes! Jared Leto shaved off his beard and cut his mane. Leto lost his “Jesus Rocker” look in favor of clean-cut look for his upcoming role in a comic-book based Hollywood movie.
Leto will be starring in Suicide Squad a DC comics title coming to the silver screen. Suicide Squad was first published in 2001. The premise of the mag is a group of rag-tag super-villains commissioned by the government to engage in suicidal missions. Think Dirty Dozen meets The Avengers.
The cast of Suicide Squad includes blockbuster maker Wil Smith who is no stranger to sci-fi epics and has starred in several like The Men in Black, Independence Day and I am Legend to name a few.
Forget Smith however, the big draw is going to be Leto’s character. Leto will be playing the role most recently made famous by the late Heath Ledger, The Joker.
The Joker first appeared appeared in the 1940’s comic Batman #1 and his considered to be the cowled crusaders number one arch-nemesis.
Leto’s performance as a transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club (2013) earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Suicide Squad is set for release in August 2016.
