Denis McDonough made a bold statement for the White House in front of a Liberal Jewish group on Monday March 23, 2015.
“An occupation that has lasted for almost 50 years must end, and the Palestinian people must have the right to live in and govern themselves in their own sovereign state. Peace is necessary because it’s the only way to ensure that a secure state of Israel is both Jewish and democratic.”
The statement comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu swore to fight a two-state system.
The White House & McDonough have been issues strong words of condemnation in response to Bibi’s rhetoric with some political analysts suggesting that the President may support Palestinian statehood in the future.
McDonough: “Israel cannot maintain military control of another people indefinitely.”
