What’s Your Sign?

“What’s your sign?”

What to some may sound like a cheesy pick-up line from 1970’s disco flick is actually  a sincere question still asked today.

The Zodiac, is one of the oldest cultural practices on the planet that is still in use today. First created by the predictions and stellar constellations of the ancient Babylonians almost 3,000 years ago, the signs of the zodiac get their names from the shape that the pattern of stars appeared to take to our ancient ancestors. For example the constellation Scorpio appears in the shape of a scorpion. Think of the constellations as a sort of prehistoric Rorschach test.

The Twelve Signs are divided into what appeared to our ancient ancestors to be the suns circular, 360′  path around the Earth. It was not until Copernicus, Galileo and Kepler that we knew the opposite was true and it is the Earth which circles the sun in an elliptical course.

Despite the fact that 2 out of 3 people do not believe in astrology, and the belief that your sign dictates your personality; just about everyone knows their zodiac sign.
