FRANCE JOINS FRAY

France has joined its United States allies in the war against ISIS in Iraq, swearing off any attacks against neighboring Syria.

France, still reeling from the Charlie Hebdo attacks has sent the aircraft carrier Charles DeGaulle to the region to combat the Islamic state in what could be seen as “vengeance killings” against the terrorist group. Interestingly  France was not a part of the George W. Bush’s “Coalition of the Willing” during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.

France will not engage Syria, a sovereign nation fighting a civil war. No nation has formally declared war against Syria whose national forces are also combating ISIS.
