The Chinese search engine “baidu” released and amazing real-time “Heat Map” app that tracks the yearly spring migration of people leaving cities in China to their homes in the countryside.
The app relies on the willing participation of some 350 million smart-phone users to get the data needed for the real-time graphics which depicts the annual holiday travel.
The spring week-vacation heralds in the new Lunar Year. As each Chinese year is named for an adoptive an animal;this year is the Year of the Ram which officially begins on the 19th of February.
